The Great Warming
The 1990's was the warmest decade in the last 1000 years. At the same time, the amount of carbon in Earth's atmosphere is higher than it has been in 420,000 years. And it is still climbing. Told through stories of real people around the world, The Great Warming not only explores the science, consequence and solutions of climate change, but also looks at exciting ideas and technologies that will create a truly sustainable future. ... more

Climate films

USA - Change in the Air
Though accounting for just four per cent of the world's population, the gas-guzzling United States produces close to a quarter of the world's greenhouse gases. Unsurprisingly it is the target of bitter criticism from other nations that claim they are adhering to the Kyoto targets.

PS The New England Aquarium's Water Film Series will complete two videos that sound great. I was told "The Great Warming", apparently updated, would be premiered in March '05 in Wash DC. Another 60 minute film is being produced for PBS. Suggest: www.neaq.org

One addition by Ron Castle:

www.kilowattours.org  "Kilowatt Ours" by Nashvillian Jeff Barrie

Jeff says, "What would you find if you traced the wires from your light switch to its energy source?  We're paying a higher price than our electric bills reflect- mountaintop removal, air pollution, childhood asthma.  Kilowatt Ours is the story of my 18 month journey across the southeast United States to document our energy related problems and present viable solutions."

The film focuses on the Southeastern United States and talks about energy saving alternatives that can reduce global warming.

Ron says, "I helped with some of the editing on this work and saw the premiere to a totally packed house at the Old Belcourt Theater in Nashville.  This is a really good work."
